Zafer Balkan is a cybersecurity practitioner with a background spanning security engineering, defensive operations, systems administration, software development, and security governance. His work focuses on practical detection engineering, security telemetry, SIEM, and understanding how security controls behave in real operational environments. He has worked across financial services and defence, from hands-on infrastructure and blue-team roles to security and compliance management. He holds an MSc in Cybersecurity from Tallinn University of Technology and is a CISSP. He also develops open-source security tooling and writes about detection engineering, telemetry, and the operational realities of defensive security.
